Welcome to my CineBlog everyone! Having joined Specialty Group almost a year ago, it’s been a real eye opener visiting various cinema locations across Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the Middle East, and seeing first hand, the changes taking place with the rollout of digital cinema.  It’s now exactly two years since I worked in the exhibition and having spent over half my life in the industry, I must say that the changes taking place are the biggest changes I have seen in my entire career.  Sure the introduction of the “Multiplex” cinema boom changed the face of the industry, particularly in Australia and I’m quite proud of the fact that I was on the management team of Australia’s first Multiplex at Hoyts Chadstone in December 1986.

Whilst that was a big enough change for the industry, who would have ever thought that 35mm projection would one day be gone forever?

It’s certainly been a learning curve for me, understanding all the new terminologies and some of the confusion surrounding how digital cinema will work. After spending a considerable amount of time talking to colleagues, particularly Independent operators, we at Specialty Cinema thought it would be a great idea to include some useful information on not only digital cinema, but lots of other useful content from “Understaning Xenon Bulbs for Cinema Operators”, to “Sound Formats and Speakers for Cinema” to “Understanding 3D Technology” to mention a few.  Please have a look at some of the new content which I’m sure will be helpful.

Just go to the support tab on the top right-hand corner of our website and then choose Technical Bulletins and have a read.

It would be great to get some feedback and see if the content we have posted is a useful tool for you and if there are any other topics you would like us to include. We really value your feedback, so please let me know, so we can further improve our fabulous new website.
