The eyes and ears of the world will be set upon The iconic Embassy Theatre in Wellington when it hosts the eagerly anticipated World Premiere of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Movie – An Unexpected Journey on Wednesday November 28th 2012.

Specialty Cinema through our New Zealand subsidiary, Specialty Group Limited, was engaged to supply a new, Peacock coloured velvet theatre fabric main curtain and heavy-duty stage curtain track system in preparation for the world premier of The Hobbit.

To compliment the stunning new curtains, a heavy-duty stage curtain track system was installed as well as a new 3D silver screen from Strong MDI Screens. The screen has a 1.6 gain and one of only a handful in the world, which will enhance the glorious 3D image on screen. The Hobbit be showing in 48 frames a second exclusive to the Embassy and presented in RealD High Frame Rate 3D (HFR 3D).

Specialty Cinema were only too happy and proud to assist The Embassy Wellington in having this iconic theatre ready in time for the World Premiere. The Embassy Theatre is widely recognised as a place of historical and cultural significance by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and is the only custom-built 1920’s cinema still in use.
